Love SafariSorter, but latest version won't work with Tiger. Says it can't read my bookmarks, which are all Safari bookmarks. What happened to this great little app?

I'm not the author, but I can tell you that in Tiger, bookmarks (along with almost all Apple plists) are stored in binary format. If you're comfortable with the terminal, there is a way to convert the binary to the old XML style. In the Terminal, type plutil -convert xml1 ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist This will convert the binary into XML. I tried it and Safari loads just fine with the XML style. After quitting Safari, it seemed that it left the file in XML. However, it may change it back to binary if you add/delete bookmarks. I haven't done a lot of testing, so use at your own risk. As always, making a backup copy would be a good idea.Reply to This
