It would be great if the saver had a few more options:

1. The ability to choose the transitions yourself between the screens.
2. The ability to have images and text from past APOD days come up as well.

Personally, I'd love for the first image to be today's APOD, but the second be yesterdays, and so on. The APOD archive is so full of interesting images, it's a shame to limit the saver to only today's image.
