After trying to live with Sound Soap and other similar tools for years, I found ClickRepair during its beta phase this spring. What a joy! Here's a tool that actually removes clicks and pops (but not hiss) from vinyl records without degrading the sound. The only downside is that it works in real time, so you have to wait while it plays the whole song to do its work. But at least when you're through you can throw the original away without worry. I've encountered only a few clicks/pops that this tool couldn't fix, and they're very rare. Great value! I sometimes use Soundtrack Pro's built-in audio cleanup tools, but this $25 tool often does a better and more reliable job that that $300 tool. The documentation is thorough and accurate, but the tool is so easy to use it hardly needs it.

You don't have to work in real-time - just select "Off" in the sound output section. Unfortunately, the developer got the user interface wrong here. The checkboxes should be two sets of radio buttons.Reply to This
