ElectricSheep downloads "the first sheep" from the internet (as intercepted by Little Snitch), apparently calling home. Sorry, Charlie. This disqualifies you from running unattended on my box.

As per the release notes, it does get "sheep" to load for the screen saver. So long as the author is doing this in good faith and there is no snooping, then there is no problem. After the first time loading this (it took about four minutes), it now runs almost instantly when I go into screensaver mode. The original commentor is being a bit too touchy and it seems the programmer should make it more clear just how this screensaver operates.

The first clue to it calling home would be the server tab in it's options. It is part of the way it operates.Saturday, July 30 2005 @ 03:45 AM PDT

This disqualifies you from running unattended on my box.I think the phrase 'Distributed Screen Saver' probably was clue enough that it gets the data from a server. How about removing your rather stupid comment?!

That is the main function of the screensaver: it downloads "sheep" for display.Reply to This
