How to Extract Audio Only - Pen Dragon

  1. Click on the Mode tab.
  2. Click on the D button (bottom right).
  3. Click on the Streams button.
  4. Select the streams you want to extract.

Let me know if this helps. I'll check back in a couple of days.

audio only - mjsickel_

From the mode screen, you may have to slect "Title Only Extraction" then hit the D button and then the Streams button, and deselect the video stream. The resulting file will be an AC3 file and can be converted to AIFF with mAC3dec, then you can convert to other things using iTunes (for long audio files, I convert to 16 kbps mono AAC and use the Make Bookmarkable applescript to I don't lose my spot when listening to them on my iPod).
Yes, it is a bunch of steps, but I haven't found a more comprehenive way that works well. I tried DVDxDV and stuff but the final result was choppy.
Converting a 2-hour lecture to m4b takes less than a 1/2 hour: 11 min to extract the AC3, then everything else takes less time so you can do them while ripping the next lecture.
