Hey, just upgraded to 5.03 but nothing solved.
It has become virtually unusable!
All my digital memory is in this app, HELP!
G4 power book,1.25, 512 RAM. OS 10.3.9
starting up takes 2-4 minutes
bringing the window to the front 2 minutes and all other apps become unusuable or slow.
5000 pictures (Library is 2 GB)
Is it the RAM?
anyone else have this problem?
thanks for any help

Iphoto soo slow! - pentax file bloat issue - therafter
thank you very much for this link!Indeed I have a pentax optio s4i and this is apparently causing the problem by writing excess data when importing into iphoto. The link refers to a solution which I have not tried yet and hesistant to try.
Maybe using the recommended software ACDSee would help, but not solve the iphoto issue. Will keep trying and will call Mac and Pentax for help. Surely its quite an issue!

I typically work with libraries that size with very little speed problems (several G4s and an iMac G5). All my Macs have 512MB RAM.You might want to check out these tips:
