I'm a paid registered user.
Today, I get an e-mail telling me of a new version that is of no additional cost to me. I click and go. Immediately, I am asked for my e-mail, which was undoubdtedly known to the software authors, since they contacted me to tell me of the upgrade. But their site doesn't know me.
So I have to search my files for which of my dozen e-mails was used for registering (throwaways are useful when you're dealing with people you don't know for sure if you can trust) ... and also for the password, which never seems to work on first try. I can't tell you how many times I've had to logon to their site (not a pleasant experience) to reset the password.
Conclusion? These people are so obsessed with the notion that some copies of their software might be used without paying that they are ticking off their paid users.
That is a ***stupid*** business model.
Which renders an otherwise ***excellent*** product a dud. I can't recommend it.

Great Software no licensing probs - P356
Great software. Does exactly what it is meant to. Upgraded no problem. In fact I was impressed how easy it was for me to upgrade...Thursday, July 14 2005 @ 02:35 AM PDT

I agree. They are so concerned about the pirates that they are now alienating their paying customers. It should also be noted that it doesn't install on 3 out of 4 eDrives that I've tried and that you have to go through this terrible process for every individual account on every individual drive. Some think this is better? I disagree! Coriliolis needs to worry about the ones that are paying their bills rather than the ones who aren't!Thursday, July 14 2005 @ 06:45 AM PDT

I don't want to not-pick, but is a 1-star rating really appropriate? If the software is "excellent" then that is what should be rated. There are other more annoying security things out there - I know I will have to "Insert the Factory Soundbank" for Reason having updated to 10.4.2I had no problem logging in - I keep registrations in a folder ("To Keep") in Mail. A quick spotlight search turned it up. Otherwise they do give instructions for retrieving your details.
Sorry to nag, but it is a good piece of kit, so I don't want people to get the wrong impression.
(Now for the comments about not needing to defrag OSX!)
Peace
