Upgrade Cost - Unfair? - Parliant Corporation

Hi Don, I'm posting this as a reply to you to in the hopes that you'll get a notification of a reply.

Best Wishes,
Colin -- Parliant

Parliant is committed to continuously improving the PhoneValet product.

Our track record is clear: Since the release of PhoneValet Message Center we have posted 9 free updates to the product right here on VersionTracker. Some updates have been small, others have included major features like 'Call in to check for messages', 'Information Center', 'Call Screening', Tiger Compatibility and Spotlight Integration. All of these upgrades have been offered to our existing customers at no extra charge.

After a full year and all these major upgrades Parliant is asking our customers to renew their commitment to PhoneValet with what we feel is a modest upgrade charge. We have big plans for PhoneValet Message Center. We will continue to offer new features and enhancements to our customers, and as is our tradition we plan to offer some at no extra charge to owners of PhoneValet Message Center 3.0.

PhoneValet 3.0 also contains some under-the-hood changes which will enable exciting new add-on features aimed at specific groups of our users. The first of these is available for purchase today as PhoneValet Anywhere -- our network access to Call Logs, Recordings, Messages and Phonebook.

Parliant is offering free upgrades to those users who have bought PhoneValet since June 1 (which is within the last 45 days or so). This is consistent with other companies' policies (including Apple who offer only a 30 day up-to-date period). To those customers who feel they have to pay again after only a few months, we ask you to consider that you too have benefited from PhoneValet's free evolution since the release of PhoneValet Message Center a year ago.

If you decide you want to wait to upgrade until later in PhoneValet 3's lifespan that is totally up to you. We think PhoneValet 3's great new features are a bargain for updaters and encourage you to get on board.

Upgrade Cost - Unfair? - Don Sykes2

Colin,

I really do like PhoneValet, and understand your charging for the upgrade. It's just that I held off buying it for a long time because of the cost, and now wish I'd held off another two weeks. . .
