The product works fine. That is the first point. The second point is that if sourceforge itself is allowed to present its sponsors on a page like this: http://firebird.sourceforge.net/index.php?op=ffoundation&id=sponsorship then the software author is doing nothing wrong in any way at all.
Let him have his splash page and stop bleating about it. He provided this thing free of charge.
