This is the second FTP client I've found that actually works well with our VMS ftp servers, something which I unfortunately have to deal with - the other program is Interarchy. Indeed Yummy FTP works even better with them than Interarchy, and handles setting transfer options for the weird source files (text files) we have that have filenames that end in a period (ex. "SOURCE_FILE.") - Interarchy treats such files as untyped binary, Yummy FTP treats this as a unique file type and so I can set options for them without having to change the handling of all "untyped" files. Yeah!
One minor bug I find is that if the window is in the background and I click or right-click (control-click) on a file, Yummy FTP does not come to the foreground. This may be intended as a feature, but it is non-standard - the standard way to have it stay in the background when you click is to do that if you hold the command-key down while clicking. Also in the case of right-clicking/control-clicking, everything in the menu except "Add Favorite" and "Set as home folder" is disabled.
Another minor bug/feature is that clicking to rename is a little flaky in column view - it works just like the Finder when in list view, but in column view you seem to have to click and then click again, not too fast, but not too slow either. The way the Finder works is that if you click an already highlighted (selected) file name, then in it goes into name edit mode, regardless of how long the file has been sitting there selected. In Yummy FTP, list view works this way, but not column view.
Several things I'd like to see added are the ability to display and interact with multiple versions of VMS files (a nice VMS thing - some number of previous versions are kept, with different versions distinguished by an ending semicolon and version number), preferably with a toolbar toggle to turn this on/off as needed - currently Yummy FTP shows the version number, but only lists the most recent version, not previous versions. Also I'd like it to support VMS file permissions, at least viewing, but preferably also editing. Lastly I'd like to see something like Interarchy's type-in text field that shows the current path, which you can modify to change to a different location, or copy to paste into other applications - that is a really nice feature.

Thanks for your feedback. The file rename problem in column view will be corrected in the next update as will the background clicking misbehavior. The background click behavior is certainly an intended feature but there are evidently some loose ends to tie up.
The ability to interact with multiple versions of VMS files is already present in Yummy FTP. There is no toolbar icon, but a checkbox named 'Show all versions of files' can be toggled in your Bookmark settings for that.
Although there is currently no 'current path text field' such as found in Interarchy, the Go To Directory and Copy As URL menu options might be a suitable alternative. The former is also available as a toolbar icon.
Permissions settings is an area that is being investigated for a future version, as is the ability to select file type handling from within the Get Info window.
If you need step by step instructions for any of these tips, please feel free to email support@yummysoftware.com

Oh, another thing I'd like to see added is the ability to set the handling of file types via the Get Info dialog (or some similar means), rather than having to use the "Suffix Mapping..." dialog. I.e. select a file of a certain type, Get Info on it and in there you'd be able to set how it is transferred and such.Reply to This
