Now that VLC officially supports TiVo, VLC is no longer compatible with Tivo...
TiVo used to work fine in VLC 0.8.1. Using the TiVo plugins found at DealDataBase (http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42332&page=1&pp=15) and VLC 0.8.1, I could open and play both .ty files and vstreams.
But with VLC 0.8.2, I have been unable to get TiVo streams or even play .ty files. First I tried using just the stock player. Then I added the libvstream_plugin.dylib. Then I replaced the libty_plugin.dylib that came in VLC 0.8.2 with the version that worked in VLC 0.8.1. No combination of plugins would get TiVo onto VLC 0.8.2.
My best guess is that the libty_plugin.dylib from VLC 0.8.2 is for TiVo S1 and the TiVo S2 plugins from DealDataBase don't work in VLC 0.8.2. Much as I like the new VLC, I'm stuck on VLC 0.8.1 until new S2 plugins are ported.
Any suggestions are most appreciated.

VLC modules are not compatible over multiple versions, so you cannot use 0.8.1 modules in 0.8.2All the code that WAS submitted to VLC by the developers of those plugins was committed. This shows you exactly why it's bad if developers don't communicate with the core team of a product like VLC. It's upto those developers to fix the issue, and i urge you to persuede them to better coordinate their efforts with the VLC team.
