Can anyone say why Apple is not allowing access to all the FREE feeds that are out there? Why Apple seem to always take two steps forward and then trip? I guess I will stay with my iPodderX.

Although I can understand Apple's reluctance to carry every possible podcast available in iTMS, I would like to see the ability to add custom subscriptions under the PodCasts lists in iTunes 4.9.

Easy: Under 'Advanced' select 'Subscribe to podcast'. Now enter the URL of feed. Thats all!

What about the "Publish a Podcast"? Seems to me anyone can publish one.

Hello? - ddelong

Did you even look around the new features including the Subscribe to Podcast... menu item?

There's also a link for podcasters to add their own feed to the directory.

Use your eyes before you use your mouth.

Sorry, I didn't see that under the Advance menu. I guess I was being an idiot user for expecting that type of usability to be found in the Podcasts section of iTunes.

But you've done your civic duty today in a respectful and articulate manner. So now go give your mommy a kiss and get on the short bus, you little pissant!

Hello? - ddelong

You can't find a simple menu item and I'm the one getting on the short bus? I think you might be confused.

...I guess I was being an idiot user...

Truest thing you've said here. Way to criticize the free help.

Hello? - pairof9s--2008

When it's done in a disrespectful manner, then "free" is not a concern. As others have stated and I replied, the placement of the feature leaves a lot to be desired by a company that prides itself on ease-of-use. I would not consider adding custom podcasts an "Advanced" feature but a standard. So overlooking its availability in a menu location is a more probable result.

But perhaps that just me thinking beyond the expectations of this audience.

Hello? - ddelong

Apple made the Podcast directory (which is open) in the iTunes Music Store for people that can't figure out to look in menus.

Or does Apple need to add a throbbing "CLICK ME" button for every function so you can find it?

UI blind spots - sjk

Even when something seems blatantly obvious to most of us there will still be plenty of others who miss it.

I don't contend that, but going on a tirade about the lack of free feed support before you even do a little research to verify those claims deserves a blunt response.

Hmm... well, it would have been nice if a "Subscribe to Podcast" button was added to the Podcast Screen instead of having to access the "Advanced" menu to get to it.
