Frequent "Paid" Updates Required!

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

I've observed that CaptainFTP seems to have a faster "paid update" schedule than any other software I license (commercial or shareware).

For example, it wasn't long ago that CaptainFTP v4 was released (requiring an "upgrade tax"), and just today v4.2 hit the nets requiring yet another upgrade payment.

Something to consider.

Having written this, however, I have no problem telling you that CaptainFTP is a well written software product. Easily among the best FTP client programs on any platform.

Frequent "Paid" Updates Required! - Captain FTP

Hi Rick,
I'm delighted that you like the program, but dissappointed that you feel that we are updating simply to line our pockets.
We have released three versions this year which started with version 4.0 which was a paid update. Version 4.0.1 was a free update for all 4.0 users. 4.2 is a free update for all users with Upgrade Protection.
Before we released 4.0 we gave all users the opportunity to buy Upgrade Protection for a mere $15 which allows all users to get all updates for free for 12 months.

In addition to the version changes we have also released numerous new builds for each new version to deal with discovered bugs, user requested enhancements or minor changes requested by users.

I would recommend that all users consider buying the (cheaper) Upgrade protection offer when upgrading.

Best Regards,
The Captain
