I'm not exactly sure I understand what you guys are having problems with as the FontTools comes in a compressed with zip OS X package (.pkg) not a disk image (dmg) as you all seem to be discussing (http://developer.apple.com/fonts/OSXTools.html). Run the installer and it will evaluate your setup and install on your system if you meet the following criteria:
This release of the Mac OS X Font Tools (3.0) requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later; 10.4.1 is recommended. It may also require you to install the Xcode 2.1 dev tools as the application MorxTester is installed in /Developer/Applications/Utilities/ and the documentation can be found in /Developer/Documentation/FontTools

The problem seems to be that the VolumeCheck utility included in FontTools.pkg is not executable. If you do the following:chmod +x PATH_TO_THE_PKG/FontTools.pkg/Contents/Resources/VolumeCheck
from the command line.
The installer will will work.

Changing the permissions on the disk check worked fine, but the installer failed at the final step, giving me a vague error and a "Please try installing again." I did, and it errored again. This package needs to go back to Apple for a redo.

the "postflight" file in the same directory also needs chmod +x. After changing both files, the .pkg installed correctly, without having to do the .dmg thing.Tuesday, June 21 2005 @ 02:47 PM PDT

Is fine now. Both files are executable (-rwxrwxrwx) right out of the box.Thursday, June 30 2005 @ 02:34 AM PDT

Most here are aware that this is a package. Some have had success by dropping it into a folder and creating a .dmg, then mounting & installing from there. Something is up with the disk check. My situation meets all the requirements for installation, and it is not working in my case.Reply to This
