It seems to me the author of this program simply ripped off the source code to previous verions of Acquisition, added a crappy UI to it, and removed the nag. As such, this program is far inferior to Acquisition, because it uses old code since Acquisition's source is available only for really old versions. It lacks many of the great features that Acquisition has, such as the ability to preview files, and its interface is horrid, especially when compared to the incredible interface that Acquisition has. If you want to use this, fine, but I for one choose to support the hard work that Dave Watanabe put into creating a superior product, without which Cabos would not exist.

who cares about a "incredible interface that Acquisition has" when Acquisition downloads files like a slug, at least for me. Cabos is clean, simple and functional... and free. I paid for Acquisition and got terrible tech support from David Watanabe. Writing to the Cabos author for a feature request got a prompt reply and the requested feature was added right in the next version! At least the Cabos author is able to get *old* Acq code to work better than the new Acquisition itself. Oh the irony!

How is it that this application is supposedly based on the source code of Acquisition when I thought Acquisition itself was based on open source freely available to any developer willing to agree to the GPL?Sunday, June 19 2005 @ 10:40 PM PDT

This reviewer is DEFINITLY David Watanabe! How many times can you mention the name of your Application in a couple of paragraphs? My serial number suddenly stopped working after I upgraded to Tiger. This clown (David Watanabe) didn't respond to one email I sent.Carbos is fast (results about 10 seconds after launch) and doesn't slow my PowerBook to a halt when it's active.
And it's FREE (stick that in your pipe and smoke it David).

All I have to is double click a download as it is coming on down and it previews just as expected, whether it be movie or music. If memory serves, that is how it worked with most every P2P program... ?? Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but Cabos has blossomed into it's own. Simple and effective. My biggest testimony towards Cabos is, I use it.Reply to This
