Existing users, 
I have uninstalled Amadeus II, because it caused a murderous crash with GarageBand. After a full week of trial and error, I determined that Amadeus II was causing GB to stall indefinitely when opening.
I had to completely wipe my HD clean and re-install my entire system in order to get GarageBand to work again. I haven't used Amadeus II since, and I've experienced zero problems with GB. Since GB is the more valuable app right now, Amadeus is out.
A shame -- I really liked it. (I even bought it.)

With my 17 inch 1.33ghz never experienced any issues with Garage Band and Amadeus.While I would think Amadeus's non-invasive install couldn't interfere with GB, it was installed long before Garage Band. I wonder if that could be the difference.

I can categorically deny that Amadeus II interferes with any other application on MacOS X. It does not change any system setting (except for the input gain of the current audio device when the user adjusts it) and the only files that it creates are its preference files and some temporary files used for working on the open sounds. All of these files are created in standard locations.Amadeus does not launch any background process, kernel extension, etc that could cause interference with the operating system. Thousands of users use Amadeus and GarageBand simultaneously and nobody ever reported an incompatibility. It seems to me that either GarageBand or the operating system are corrupted on your computer and need a clean reinstall.

This guy obviously has no idea how software is writtten, maintained, developed, or even used. Blaming his computer's instability on one particular app because he reloaded his computer from media without that app and it worked is flawed logic at its worst.Mac apps don't work that way dude, there is no registry to get corrupted. A well written app like this could only hurt itself, not your entire computer. You did something else to trash your system.

I don't know about that last assertion, maybe in OS X. I have had many graphics apps install extensions which don't work with anything else, corrupting Word Perfect and other apps. The Kodak Precision extensions do not play well with others, for example.I'll try it and see. I just hope it works with Protools files.

Whatever your suspicions, I can only say that I have had Amadeus for years, and (just checked it again, by the way) Garage Band loads, creates and saves without any issues at all, even with Amadeus running concurrently. I am running G5 iMac, 10.3.9....Reply to This
