Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: YES

Didn't G-Force begin on the Mac? I'm curious to see this toolbar that is Windows only for now - as it seems to be the main reason this is getting a 3.0 bump. Unfortunately for the Mac I would call this version 2.8.2.

P.S. Still love G-Force, just a little disappointed.

Hi there.... Indeed, in a perfect world, I'd have loved to release a mac toolbar first. However, we're a struggling small company, and we really can't make it (and you'd no longer see G-Force get developed, let alone a mac os toolbar) if we did the mac toolbar first as much as it pains me.

However, the new stuff in GF3 (for both platforms) is actually pretty substantial when you see it in action (but it's much more subtle than a toolbar dropped in your lap). The antialiased line drawing makes stuff really shine, and all screenshots are taken up a notch (previously, the lines are terrible to look at as a result of the jaggies). Next, the auto-scaling of sprites is really nice now... When one of the background images comes up (or one of your own), it will auto-fit to the frame, maintaining the aspect... Watch GF for a while w/ the stock images and you'll def see that this feature is very nice (and one of my personal favs that I've wanted to do for a long time!). Next, you've got all the FlowField rescaling done by myself, done by "hand". I went through *all* of them, editing most such that they make for a *much* better experience. If you watch for a few minutes, you'll see some great stuff.

But, indeed, it'd be nice to get a mac toolbar in this release. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot, so I can only say we're trying very hard to get a mac os toolbar asap. We're juggling a *lot* of balls right now, and I'm still the only one on actual vis software development. A new version of WhiteCap and a "WhiteCapGL" is soon on it's way. A startup company has been challenging...

Thanks,
Andy

Andy, you are a gentleman and a scholar - thanks for the thoughtful reply. I can completely empathize with your situation, having starting my own small business 2 years ago. We all have to survive - and it is a Windows world, after all. The improvements on the Mac end are very nice, I must admit. Is there a possible date for the bar to be added? Don't worry, I won't hold you to it!
