I have selected all widgets and the Remove button is grayed out.

Cannot remove widgets - wlogon

Hm.
You cannot remove widgets, if they are not writable for you. This refers mainly to the system-widgets installed from Apple, and maybe others where the developers have their concerns.
The grayed button indicates it.
If you really want to remove theses pre-installed widgets, change the privileges in Finder, or delete or rename them from there.
