This is a nice user-interface wrapper around GNU wget.
The primary value is its potential to save most end-users both time and effort by allowing them to bypass the details of the wget utility (understanding, configuring, scripting, etc.).
With respect to the downloaded website files, it exhibits the same behavior as wget.
Performance is comparable to other wget-based applications.
Privacy/Security Caution: I did not find a link to the DeepVacuum source code for inspection, which I was expecting in the spirit of extending functionality of GNU free software. So the usual concern regarding any application that sends information over the network applies here: Without an independent source code review, safe computing practice requires the assumption that the user's privacy and system security are compromised. Note that this does not mean maliciously so. Privacy and security defects are common results of oversights and residual software errors. (This is a compelling reason to have source code visible to the community.) The application inherits access privileges of the user running it, so a prudent assumption is that all of the files visible to that user are also visible on the network at least while the application is running and possibly afterward. Note that this caution is not specific to this application. The risk level is high because of the nature of the application and because source code is not provided.

Have you found a link to inspect Mac OS X source code? It is build on top of GNU Darwin? Please read licenses more carefully.Reply to This
