This is a good tool. It is helpful when sharing a removable drive with Windows users. However, the admin password is displayed in clear text while i enter it. How can I obscure the password when ejecting a drive?

Thanks for following up on....right now I just make sure no one is shoulder surfing when I use findercleaner. I look forward to the fix and future releases.Tuesday, June 14 2005 @ 07:33 PM PDT

I'm going to fix that as soon as possible as this is obviously a major flaw. I can't do this with Apple's Applescript editor unfortunately as it doesn't allow secure dialog boxes. There is a work-around but I can't use it since this will most likely break compatibility with some OS X versions because Apple changed admin privileges in Applescript. The good news is that there will be one more FinderCleaner 1.x release, that is unless someone encounters major issues with it. After that release I will move the entire project to XCode. The app will get additional features/preferences and will obviously have a secure dialog box. Until that time the next 1.x version will improve keychain support so typing your password will not be needed as much as now. I can't guarantee 100% keychain functionality as Apple broke it in Tiger but I've found a way that works about 95% of the times so that's definitely better than it is right now. I can only hope Apple fixes this issue.

Found a tweak that seems to remove the prompt for the admin password and subsequently cleartext display of the password endtered....by changing the setting in:Keychain Access
----FinderCleaner
-------Access Control
Clear check mark in "Ask for Keychain password"
Close Keychain Access
Curious if this also solves the problem for anyone else.
