Apple seem to be on a mission to remove ALL the good features of their software and replace them with mediochre, buggy, watered-down versions. After spending half an hour tracking down the English Language bug crash, I then found I couldn't get Full Screen mode to operate on my second monitor! Then I found out I had to go to the Preferences menu, tell it which screen I wanted to use Full Screen, then try again. They took away Quicktime 6's ability to simply place the cursor on the screen you want, then hit 'Apple-F' and forget about it. I sometimes have two screens and a TV set hooked up and frequently change between all three screens, so this is a huge backwards step! Why do this Apple? Good news is that QT Player 6.5 still keeps this behaviour if QT7 is installed, so make sure you keep the application if you need this feature.
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU STILL CAN'T EXPORT MP3 AUDIO!! The Lame encoder isn't supported by most applications, so it isn't a working solution. MPEG4 with AAC is not compatible with some DivX set-top boxes and Windows installations, they require MP3 audio, so therefore QuickTime is completely USELESS for these applications and we still have to resort to third-party tools to get the job done.

QuickTime also doesn't let you export to DivX on its own. Whatever you're using to export DivX video should also support MP3 encoding. Asking Apple to fill in for holes/missing features (and pay-to-use, such as the MP3 encoder in the official DivX codec) in third-party software is a bit rich.Tuesday, May 31 2005 @ 06:49 PM PDT
