I am running 1.4.1 on a PB 15" 1.67 GHz with 1 Gb Ram, Tiger 10.4.1. Still getting the "parent directory ./Users/Shared/SC Info does not exist" error message. "The Limiting closed port RST response from 251 to 250 packets per second" message shows up immediately after the first error message. This happens midway through the process of repairing permissions. I then get the closed Port message for 10 or so times, then get the message that permissions have been repaired. AppleJack then continues to conduct tests 3-5. At the beginning of each one, I get the "Limiting closed port RST response from 251 to 250 packets per second" message, this time in purple. And AppleJack continues to run, and when it's finished (it's given me ok messages at the end of each test), the computer restarts (I ran applejack auto restart) and everything seems fine.
Love this program. Hope this bug can be tracked down.

Messages only on PowerBooks? - klktrk
Anyone have this issue who's NOT running a PowerBook? Looking at the bug reports on the developer's site, it seems to be only PowerBooks who are getting this message.Wednesday, June 01 2005 @ 08:33 AM PDT
No, not only Powerbooks - luximac
No, I've got the same error on my flat-panel iMac (1st generation). Perhaps it could be related to the type of Ethernet card used (I've only 100Mbit not Gbit) or to the fact that I've a DSL connection over Ethernet (PPPoE) and not over USB.In fact it has nothing to do with repairing permissions. In my opinion it is that fact that the hard disk has to be mounted to can access it for permissions repair etc. When I skip permissions repair and jump directly to preference file check the same errors will appear.

Error messages with Tiger 10.4.1, 10.4.2 and AJ 1.4.1 - balancedview
FYI, this "Limiting closed port..." repeating message also happens on my new iMac G5 2GHz (Rev B) as well, running OS X Tiger 10.4.2.It displays every 5 seconds between steps after repair permissions, and at end of process.
From all the web searching it seems to be: a) not usu. harmful, b) possibly related to port scanning (?), c) definitely related to differences in Tiger from Panther.
It sometimes shows up in bold purple text because the message has been displayed onto an AppleJack answer/response line which had set the font to bold purple (that's all).
In my case, the machine is not connecteed to any network at time of running AppleJack 141 (only keyboard and earphones plugged into iMac). So that would seem to rule out any external network pinging as a source, it must be all within the OS and internal hardware.
The SourceForge discussion threads on this have not yet reached an answer.
Best,

I'm getting exactly the same message...even when completely disconnected from the network. There must be something going on in Tiger. Plus, I have very sluggish response while online (long latency).Reply to This
