Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

I was dismayed on Mother's Day when there were no photos to display on our TV/TiVo; it had worked before. I installed Tiger on 4/29. It was not until I saw this in the VersionTracker list that I knew it was a generic problem.

However, the fix does not seem to work for me. I have an odd setup: I installed Tiger in a separate partition on a Firewire drive, and used Netinfo Manager to set up a symlink for my User folder from my old Panther disk (internal). That way, I have access to all my files, but still have a working Panther system (with the same files) I can return to at will. I'll run this way a few weeks until everything shakes down. So, when I ran the first little fixer app, it reported that com.tivo.desktop.plist either was unreadable or did not exist. When I checked the path it gave, which was to my Firewire user/Library/Preferences folder, there indeed was no TiVo plist file there. I checked to make sure the preference pane was active, and toggled some settings to cause an update, and checked again. The live file was named com.tivo.desktop (with no .plist extension!) in my main Tiger /Library/Preferences folder, NOT in the user preferences folder. I made a copy of it to the user prefs folder, added a .plist extension, and clicked the Run button in the fixer app again; it reported success.

I then ran TiVo Broadcaster; it seems to be running. But I still don't see my computer in the TiVo menu.

Anything I can do to get this working? Maybe it won't work till I get rid of the symlink setup and actually have my user folder on the boot drive?

Sounds like you did everything correct, but do this at this point, restart the TiVo, restart your computer, and restart the TiVo Broadcaster app and see if that works.
