Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

I bought 8.1 recently, since I was using it for business purposes, rather than personal. What a fool I was! There I was, being honest, and now they're demainding full retail to upgrade to 9.0.

I don't think so.

I'll be using GPG from now on.

I am in the same situation. I already wrote a letter to their marketing. So, instead of further blasting PGP, here is what I did with GPG.

1. Install Fink.
2. install gnupg from fink.
3. fink by default installs in /sw/bin/. You want to make a symbolic link from /sw/bin/gpg to /usr/local/bin/gpg.
4. In version tracker, get GPG Keychain Access and GPGMail.
5. In GPG Keychain access, import the public and private keys
6. If you use Entourage, get GPG Entourage.

GPG Mail has evolved to the point that it can send PGP encrypted in MIME. The only missing feature is PGP Disk, which I don't see a direct replacement. But you can use Apple's Disk Utility.app to create a disk image, then encrypt using GPG.

I have entirely removed PGP from my PowerBook. I am currently removing in on my PowerMac, and going entirely to GPG. No problem so far. GPG Mail works on Tiger as well.
