Hi everyone,
I posted this already, but I would like to know if somebody else is experiencing the same behavior I have while using Delicious Library.
First of all, I think that this software is fabulous, or at least could be fabulous if it would held all promises.
Here's the hardware/software used :
- PowerMac G4 MDD Dual 1.25Ghz ; 1.5Gb RAM ; 2X250Gb hard disk ; DVD-Writer
- MacOsX 10.4 (Build 8A428) running in it's french localisation
- DSL connection from France
Here's the problem :
- Delicious Library automatically finds the correct CD's using iSignt or UPC codes
- Delicious Library automatically finds the correct book using iSight or the UPC code
- BUT Delicious Library DOES NOT find ANY DVD if I use iSight or UPC code.
It simply says : "No results found"…
I'm not trying to ad some obscure DVD that have been sold in 2 copies… Here's a sample of what I'd like to ad : "The Abyss" ; "Gladiator" ; "Hollow Man" ; "Kiki's delivery service"
All the DVD's that fail have been bought in France and a Region Code 2. The rare DVD's that are found correctly are Region 1 DVD's bought in the US or in France but as US imports.
Weird thing is : if I enter the movie title, Delicious Library is able to find it. And, even more weird, in the displayed infos, I can see that the UPC code reported is EXACTLY the same than the one I used to search for the movie using the UPC code !!!!!
A rational explanation for this behavior would be appreciated : should I open ports on my firewall/router ? Should I change some settings ? I don't plan to move to the US just to have this thing working... sorry :-)
Regards.

Not finding DVD's - penguiner
Hi Drew,I have sent an E-mail, as requested. You replied. Cool… But now, since about 3 weeks, I'm waiting for a reply. I even sent another mail to ask if you could reproduce the strange behavior. No reply…
Are you still there ?
Do you have any idea how to fix this issue ?
Regards.

Not finding DVD's - Notary Sojac
I had sort of the reverse of this and reported it directly to the DL crew.I opened a copy of our DL 1.1 library in DL 1.5 and all looked well. I selected several DVDs and asked it to get more info from Amazon. Additional info fleshed out most of the entries but one of the special edition DVDs disappeared. Eventually I noticed that I now had 357 DVDs and 1 CD where previously I had 358 DVDs. When I looked at the CD entry it was the special edition DVD + Soundtack CD set... except all the info was changed to French - obviously grabbed from amazon.fr.

Not finding DVD's - Drew Hamlin
Hey, this is Drew from Delicious Monster again. If people are having trouble with UPC lookups like this, I'd love to hear some specifics so I can look into this more. What UPCs used to work great in 1.1 that don't work anymore in 1.5?, etc.If you can write me at delicious@delicious-monster.com it'd be the most helpful. Thanks!

Not finding DVD's - Drew Hamlin
Penguiner, hey, this is Drew from Delicious Monster. I apologize for the issues you've been having here. I've heard some mixed reports from people having trouble with some UPC lookups (and many have to do with a discrepancy between UPCs and EANs). Your issue sounds particularly odd though - could you email me at delicious@delicious-monster.com so we can work through this more? I'm very curious what country you're in (and how Date & Time defines this, if it's different), and what language you're using Delicious Library in as well. Also send me some of the UPC codes that are failing so I can try to reproduce them myself. Hopefully I'll be able to help you resolve the problems. Thanks!Reply to This
