I friend has installed both Canon ImageBrowser and iPhoto 5.
when he connects his camera iPhoto boots up and the camera is seen in the import window.
When he tries to import there is an error that the iPhoto cannot open folder...with a path to a non-existent canon image browser folder. The import stops there and then there is a dialog box that says in could not import the files due to corruption.
I imported the images onto my computer, they are fine. I copied them to t CD and tried to import them that way into iPhoto on his computer, same problem. I ran GraphicConverter and converted the images to another format, again they are fine on my computer, but he keeps getting the same error messages.
Anyone ever heard of this? Any thoughts on what to do?
TIA
henry

Friend cannot get his images into iPhoto? - bmehrtens
The first time I hooked my Canon S2 IS up to my G5 running 10.3.8 with iPhoto 4.0.3, iPhoto downloaded about half the pictures and then did the same thing you're describing. It's not a memory card issue, because the card works fine in the camera and my Palm device as well. And it's not a conflict with the Canon software, because I hadn't even installed it yet! Since iPhoto wouldn't handle the pictures, I installed the Canon software (5.2.0.6), and the pictures were downloaded to my desktop machine just fine. I am curious to try this again with iPhoto 5, but I wanted to add an additional comment to this thread that it is very likely a problem other than a bad SD card or conflict between ImageBrowser and iPhoto.Monday, August 22 2005 @ 09:26 AM PDT

Sounds like a faulty memory card. Are you able to play back all the images on the camera LCD? Since you already backed up to CD, re-format the memory card, take a few pictures, and see if you still get this problem. If you do, and it the images play back fine in the camera, then it sounds like a software conflict with iPhoto and imagebrowser. Uninstall the Canon app and just use iPhoto.Reply to This
