There a mess of apps that do this for FREE. Bytecontroller and iController are two freeware apps that do pretty much the same thing as MenuTunes. Although, to the developer's credit, MenuTunes is a very nice piece of software in need of only a minor tweak here and there (like only make it visible when iTunes is running).
The gold standard for this class of applications is Synergy, which costs about half the amount of MenuTunes. I don't believe MenuTunes is twice as good.
