THis is probably the best attempt yet for the C172. Being an owner of a 2003 C172, I can say it's not too bad. Instrumentation is not truly correct. I wish someone would make it so. This is as close as it's ever been. C172's don't have Garmin GPS or instrumentation. The ADI does not have a bezel around it. The bezel should be around the Heading Indicator (if it's an HSI). Seems to fly well. Digits on avionics are real small and hard to adjust. Looks good.

Thank you for your feedback and comments. I created the instrument panel using source images in the 172 brochure, and images from airliners.net. Due to some limitations in x-plane with the multi-layer format for instruments, the square frame around the artificial horizon can be prohibitively difficult to (appear to) eleminate, it masks out the colored elements of the AH. The stock instruments for the 172 is a basic DG, so I chose to put in a stock DG as opposed to an HSI. The aircraft does have an open-format panel that can be edited in plane-maker to swap out the DG for an HSI if you choose. The Garmin 430 is a new x-plane 8 element, and I had to make a choice to employ a new (everyone has been waiting for the G430 since mid v7), or leave in the antique looking King NAV/COM & GPS, which while appropriate by name, is too antique for the aircraft. So since the G1000 is an option in the all glass model, I thought it should be ok to put in the Garmin 430 panel GPS. Agreed, the digits on the Garmin 430 are quite small, it is a stock/default x-plane element asn as it matures in x-plane it will improve in all aircraft it is installed in. All analog instruments are custom hand designed in photoshop to be as clear and precise as possible, even if they are pretty small. It is always incredibly valuable to get feedback from owners, pilots, students and instructors. I am glad you have identified that it's 'not too bad', 'best attempt yet', and 'as close as it's ever been'. It is crafted directly after the TCDS with respect to datum, cg, deflections, and all applicable data. Includes model access 7.63 through 8.xx. Thanks Again, -Jason (http://air.c74.net)Reply to This
