Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Hi,
I have GarageBand 1, am I eligible to this 2.0.1 update?
If not, and if I want to get GarageBand 2 without buying the whole iLife 5 package, how can I do?
Thanks a lot,
ipierre

What is the GarageBand minimum requirement? - lushbudget`

You cannot buy GarageBand 2 by itself, it is only sold as a component of iLife 05. Of course, the $79 price is well worth GB alone, but you will also get iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie HD, and the latest iTunes 4.7 for your Mac.

The system requirements for GB are as follows:

A Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G3 (400MHz or faster), G4, or G5 processor

{{{ 600MHz G3 or faster for GarageBand }}}

733MHz G4 or faster for iDVD

G4 or faster for iPhoto advanced editing and GarageBand software instruments

256MB of physical RAM; 512MB recommended
Display with at least 1024 by 768 pixel resolution
Mac OS X v10.3.4 or later (10.3.6 or later recommended)
QuickTime 6.5.2 (included) or later
DVD drive required to install GarageBand and iDVD
4.7 GB of disk space to install iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, GarageBand, and iTunes; or 350 MB to install iPhoto, iMovie HD, and iTunes only
Note:
High definition video requires Mac OS X v10.3.6, 1GHz G4 or faster, and 512MB of RAM.
Burning DVDs in iDVD requires a compatible Apple SuperDrive.
The iTunes Music Store is available only to persons above the age of 13 in the U.S., Canada, UK, France, Germany, and select EU countries.
Support for RAW format requires Mac OS X v10.3.6 and a compatible camera.
iPhoto book and print services are available in the U.S., Canada, Japan, and select European countries; fees apply.
Streaming music requires AirPort Extreme Card, AirPort Express Base Station (sold separately), and iTunes 4.6 or later.

Get iLife '05 to get GB 2.0. ... - regald

GB 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 require the installation of GB 2.0 (ships on a DVD, more than 1,somewhat GByte for this app). If you got GB 1.x, you need to buy iLife '05 or a new Mac to get GB 2.0.x - there're no other ways.

What do you want to bet that apple has this listed on their website? If you're too dumb and lazy to look, you're too dumb and lazy to use this application.

First of all this is such a valid question! To the cretin who replied rudely, maybe if you werent so lazy , you'd realize that not everyone is dumb like you, People come here when they can't find thier answers through apple. How much you wanna bet that you don't know the answer to her question and are to lazy or mean to find out?
The truth is Apple never even addresses the needs of ilife 04 customers desiring to upgrade, there are no package deals no upgrade fees, you just have to buy the VERY SIMILAR, yet enhanced software all over again (I assume its cost was bundled into the price of my computer, there are NO free lunches). If anyone has heard of an upgrade from ilife 04-ilife05 please post it here, thanks.

Just go to the Apple site and it will direct you to purchase or upgrade to that application. You don't have to buy the whole iLife deal.

I hope this helps!

If you could post the link to that offer it would be great, I've searched the apple site and have seen no such offer. the only offers are for upgrades from 1.0 to 1.1 or 2.0 to 2.1. Nothing from 1.1 to 2.0 I'm a bit irritated that there isnt one there. If you've seen it, please share. thanks!

you cannot upgrade to new iLife versions without a re-purchase, its always been like that... just like the purchase of an Apple Update CD isnt available...
