Nice software, too many bugs

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

Recommend Product: YES

RapidWeaver is pretty good. I'd prefer more features and better documentation. The code generated works well with Safari.

BUT, I've had problems: minor problems with Mac and Windows FireFox; and, much bigger problems running the code generated by RapidWeaver with Mac and Windows versions of MS-Internet Explorer.

That's a problem - I cannot rely on the code to run properly in non-Safari browsers. I have to re-program the HTML. Even the basic Contact template is buggy in non-Safari browsers. The lack of reliability negates the value of what, otherwise, is a nice product.

A real bummer. Hopefully the situation will be fixed very, very soon ...

Re: Nice software, too many bugs - brent1a

Thats not necessarily RapidWeaver's fault.....IE is admittedly not up to date and severely incapable of conforming to even old internet standards. They say they are going to fix all this in IE7 kind of like Longhorn is just around the corner. I use RapidWeaver religiously and so far the only major crippling factor is that IE/FireFox don't use PNG format pics and Safari does therefore some colors show up a tick different in the different browsers. Other than that I can deal with all the other discrepancies. Javascript, java applets, CSS, it all works for me just fine.

Nice software, too many bugs - Vasily

Check out the forums on the developer web site; there's documentation there (and they're planning a wiki documentation system, too). Plus, if you're having problems you can post a message and the folks there are most helpful. It's a real community effort.
