Still javascript issues - awrc_dotmac
It's all Netscape's fault - if I remember the scripting language was originally to be called something like Livescript. However, the version it was to appear in was also the version of Netscape that was to have the first Java support, so some marketing genius changed the name of it to Javascript, despite the fact that, as you say, Javascript and Java have absolutely nothing to do with each other.Of course, Microsoft didn't help by calling their version something else so they didn't have to use the word Java, and ECMAscript just doesn't seem to have caught on, partly because of the catchy name.
Ah, standards, don't you just love 'em? Remember the revolution that was supposed to result from font embedding? Ever remembering encountering a site that used it that wasn't a demo by Netscape or Microsoft?
No, neither do I :-)

JavaScript and Java are totally, completely, entirely, 100% unrelated. They are different languages running in different environments with different purposes.Reply to This
