That's because you are talking about a totally different UPnP - the DI-624 and other "routers" use UPnP to dynamically open and close NAT or firewall ports for applications on your PC's.

The UPnP this is talking about is the Media UPnP - that is a standards based way of streaming media across your network to UPnP media clients. The DLink DSM-320, Zensonic Z400, Roku Soundbridge etc are all clients.
