Worth it?

Feedback Type:  Review

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

I have the free .Mac version of freefall. I was going to go buy the full version for $20 when I realized it was $29! $29 for a screen saver that does one thing.

OK, So I'll look and see what I get for the upgrade. Hmmm, there is no place that tells me what I get over and above my current version for $29.

Personally, I can think of a lot of things that are more deserving of my $29. Not that I don't like the software, it works great.

I can see a boxed version for $29, but the download version should be $20 and IMHO if you already have the .Mac version they should be giving the download version for even less.

I am going to rate the features as Neutral as I don't really know what I can do on the full version.

Worth it? Absolutely - Why Not

You are wrong. the demo is NOT just a screensaver. It is a full-fledged application that allows multiple views, more satellite options, etc. It is wonderful and well worth the measly $30. We use it for training purposes and the local school uses it for the same. If you really want to light up kids' eyes, put the images up using a couple projectors. I am lucky and have a pair that can make almost a 30' screen each and put them on opposing walls. The kids walk into an almost virtual planetarium, and their jaws drop through the floor. When they learn about what really is going on up there, the cannot keep from talking about it for days. $30 to open a whole new world to kids, young and old, I would say that is as Mastercard would - priceless.
