I would like to follow-up the problems several people reported with version 3.8.1. There was indeed a bug in the versionchecking routine that would crash the program if it checks for a new version and www.hairersoft.com is unavailable. This unfortunately happened over the Easter week-end. Since both I and the people maintaining the server were on vacation, this problem went unnoticed for three days and affected a substantial number of users.
