Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

This is just an amazingly good FTP Server package. It's bulletproof, easy to setup, and works like a charm. After struggling for months with CrushFTP I found Rumpus and tried it and now I'm hooked. It was super easy to get up and running within minutes. it gave me excellent logging power and full control over access rights for users and seems to be extremely secure. People, there simply is no better FTP server package for the Mac that I'm aware of. Rumpus works like a champ. However, once the demo period expires I will have to look for something else to serve my FTP needs. This is because $250.00 for a home FTP server is just MINDBLOWINGLY too expensive. In fact, it's over-the-top PROHIBITIVELY expensive for the average person and this is very unfortunate because I would love to buy this software--but NOT at this INSANE price. I may have gone to $100.00 because it's such great software, but 250 bucks is just downright stupid.

Superb software and ASTOUNDINGLY overpriced - mguertin

The price is incredibly reasonable considering the POWER it gives you with the web interface. If this is just for a home ftp server and you don't need to offer people that sort of powerful interface (that doesn't require dedicated ftp software and/or a learning curve for non ftp saavy users) then I would reccomend just using OSX's built in ftp!

I agree, this product is way overpriced for home use. But setting up Apple's built-in FTP is incredibly painful and limiting, so suggesting it is an alternative to something like Rumpus isn't very helpful in this context.

Let's assume from your argument that the software is worth $100, the service and support from the developer is worth $250! Ease of use, ease of administration, security, stability, immediate replies when stuck, ongoing support and updates makes this worth every penny for me (and I'm a home user)... my time to wrestle with Apple's ftp or other less expensive solutions for Mac OSX (and yes, I've tried most of them) makes this software worth every penny of the $250. Time is money and Rumpus just works. One less thing to worry about during my busy day. That, by definition, is value.
