I keep waiting for the perfect email client, and I have tried ALL of them. An hour with Balzac shows it to be easy to use and powerful under the hood as well, which is how a Mac app ought to be. Nice slick design (though the icon looks like a pizza with water spilled on it). Maybe THIS will be the one...
I have not encountered any crashing or the bugs listed below yet.
Wonder if the balzacmbox file format is the same as a regular mbox?

The Balzac mailboxes are in fact file bundles with an mbox and some other files inside. If you look inside the bundle for each month you'll find a file called 'mbox' that can be imported into any mail application which supports mbox import. Alternatively you can export selected messages in a flat mbox format for use elsewhere by choosing 'Export Messages' from the file menu.Apple's Mail.app stores mail in a similar bundle format, although they use the .mbox extension (which I feel should be reserved for flat mbox files; hence my use of another extension).
