I honestly can't see why there are so many positive reveiws of this software.
I've used SS for a month, and have carefully trained it according to instructions, but it seems to have some strange quirks. One spammer who nearly always includes a : > is never blocked even with the settings all the way to agressive and despite 15-20 spams of his I've trained SS with. Also, one came through yesterday with the words "viagra" and "cialis" in the subject, and it let them through unscathed despite these words being in the corpus.
What makes this strange it that SS started with 67% spam in it's corpus after my initial traininig...all from this spammer, and now with it's auto training and despite my best efforts to tell it, "no, this is spamm" , it has worked it's way back to only 29% spam in the corpus. Oh, and it still says it has 0% false negative! Really? Guess I'm just imagining all that spam in my inbox.
Oh, yeah and if I launch Entourage from the Dock SS doesn't auto launch and intercept anything. I have to manually select spam then do the Applescript after the fact.

Thanks, however I had deactivated all the rules, except one to sort mail. Try reinstalling it twice and starting from scratch on a clean set up. Same results.I've been using Thunderbird now for a couple years with excellent results.

Perhaps the reason you're seeing so many positive reviews of this software is because it works really well, and perhaps your own negative experiences are because you've *censored*ed up the installation somehow.Personally, I always check that the batteries are installed the right way round and the power switch is on before deciding that something doesn't work and complaining to the manufacturer.

Censored my arse! - Mr Tea
It seems that the word 'c-o-c-k-e-d' got bowdlerised by VT's profanity police in my previous comment. May I point out that the word in question is a completely legitimate term meaning 'tilted', 'skewed', or 'out of alignment', and was not intended to convey the meaning 'penetrated repeatedly by a throbbing tumescent rod with bulging veins up the sides and a big purple bell-end'. Sorry for any confusion.Tuesday, April 26 2005 @ 01:50 AM PDT

Actually, there are quite a few negative reviews too. I just didn't mention them. I stand by my original statement that, given reinstalling it twice, turning off all rules, even reinstalling Entourage, it still let through even the most obvious spam and tagged as spam many emails that were fine.Thursday, April 26 2007 @ 02:34 PM PDT

The fact that the reported false negative statistic doesn't match what you are seeing in your inbox means that SpamSieve isn't being given access to all (or, possibly, any) of your incoming mail. Something in your Entourage rules is likely not set up properly; this would also explain why SpamSieve doesn't auto-launch when you receive new mail. Please contact technical support at spamsieve@c-command.com and I'll help you get it working.Reply to This
