I've just installed VPC 7.0 with Windows XP Pro under OSX 10.3.8 on my iBook G4. Easy enough to install, and use, but I've been completely unable to connect consistently to the internet. Explorer half loads some pages (taking 3-4 minutes) and then gives up. Sometimes it just tries for a few minutes and achieves nothing. I'm using broadband, both through an Airport, and by cable to the router.
I've followed all the instructions and set all the parameters (I think) but nothing seems to fix it. It's a complete pain, since I'm not going to be able to do most of the things I want to, and which I can't do on the Mac (GPSs and PDAs, notably).
If anyone out there has any useful advice, I'd love to hear it.
Ah, well. I suppose it's nice to know that, whatever else changes, Microsoft software provides a pillar of stability in a volatile world. It was rubbish 10 years ago. It's rubbish now!
Back to good old Safari and Camino - both worked right away with absolutely no trouble.
Version:
Explorer doesn't work!!! - themobrules
there are a alot of settings in VP7 that you can disable to get better performance. check the boards at mactopia. i did and quickly got 50% better performance- although i will say if you want to watch movies or listen to music forget it! VP7 seems to work best for non-web apps. you might also try firefox as your browser - you can get a cool plugin that allows you to save your bookmarks on a server, then you can switch to windoze and download them into the Win version of firefox and browse the same bookmarks as on your mac.good luck
