Why would any sane Mac user WANT to make WMV9 media!?

I don't get it. Us Mac users should support eachother, and Apple, and not use MicroSoft's WMV9 encoding, which is hardly even playable on Macs....

One good reason why is if you have a business and you are a professional. What if your customer wants WMV-9 files? Will you tell them no I only do QuickTime?

I understand why a MAC user might not be interested, but this option is for the real world professional user who wants to meet every customers needs.

Uh, PCs have QuickTime too...

So, QT is the codec to use to ensure all around compatibility.

You are working on a Mac, yet eliminating your Mac customer! What sense does that make? And, yes, if my customer requested WMV9, I'd tell em too bad, QT is better and that is what we offer.

NOTICE: That is why I said professional business user.

I am not saying don't encourage QuickTime, but some people prefer WMV-9 or REAL for that matter. If that is what the customer is happy with then give it to them!

Are you saying it's better to work on a Mac and alienate the other 90+% of the world, including my paying client? Is there some compelling reason why I shouldn't offer multiple formats to the end user, and let them make the choice? If you want to be a Quicktime evangelist, by all means find a good forum to sing its praises and bash the WMV format. The comments for this product are not the place to do it.
