Existing users, 
I've never seen an app that modify my system preferences.... When I run the program , It change all my sound settings and I need move the VLC prefs to trash , and than restar my G5 to return to normal.....

I don't seem to be having this problem on my system (VLC 0.8.1, OS X 10.2.8, 500MHz slot-loading iMac).
Which system preferences and/or sound settings in particular are being modified for you, and how?
