and it seems that every update includes the same exact description of what's been improved in this release... and it's never speed.
Oh, and the 'cutesy' Bomberman moralistic message, "Do not Pirate DVDs", when the copy is finished, is not only lame, it's borderline moronic, and probably infringes copyright in the process. (Way to go guys...)
I'll stick with DVDBackup, which has worked great for every DVD I throw at it... I'll take "basic and functional" over "useless eye candy and misplaced sermonizing" any day.

I doubt DVDBackup would be any better, but the "eye-candy" in MTR is informative, and the interface is empowering, where you're able to do a lot of things not possible with DVDBackup, and yet efficient so if you do the same thing each time, you can pretty much just hit enter and start ripping. As for the same change description, that because there is a lot of work going into the scanning code in 2.7, and some of that is trickling down to 2.6.x in the hopes of fixing the compatibility with certain titles. Do to its capabilities, MTR needs to process a lot more information than DVDBackup does in its simple mode of operation, making it more susceptible to variations with certain DVD titles as we change things around.Regardless, it's nice to have DVDBackup around for those times as well. It's all just freeware anyways, so it doesn't really matter if you don't use MTR. As for the speed, there's nothing we can do to improve the ripping speed. That is caused solely by the model of drive you have and the firmware installed. I have a Pioneer 107D with unlocked firmware, and it rips single-layer DVDs in 5 minutes and dual-layered ones in 12-15 minutes.

Crackhead - amcgee
Ignore this crackhead. There are some who cling to the past no matter what. I see fools who still think Carbon Copy Cloner is the best, when SuperDuper has long surpassed it. It's the same thing here. He's stuck in a time warp with an outdated and defunct app, so let him stay there and rot.Tuesday, May 10 2005 @ 05:35 PM PDT
