Product Platform: MacOS,MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

What does Yellow Dog Linux have to do with Mac OS X? Linux doesn't run on Mac OS X. I use VersionTracker because it shows me information specific to the operating system that I use. I don't use Linux. I don't use Windows. I use the Mac OS X and the underlying Darwin OS. If VersionTracker is simply an advertising forum for software makers that definitely lessens the value of it.

I think it would be a great thing if VersionTracker were to add a Linux tab. Linux is at least as relevant as Palm OS, more so in my opinion.

The reason its here is because you can install and run it on your Mac. Lets remember here that OS X is built upon BSD which is unix. Some of us want flexibility and tinker power of a real unix box without having to buy computer with PC hardware.

This distro does not run on Mac. It runs on Apple Hardware. Mac is an operating system. VersionTracker has categorized their software by OS. As such there is currently no appropriate place for Linux related releases. It amazes me that VersionTracker has not yet added a *nix category.

because versiontracker doesn't (yet) have a Linux section, and because Mac users want to run Linux on their machines, it makes sense that such Mac users would find Linux installations in the Mac section of VT - that's the closest VT can come at present to putting Linux in a logical place on their site. it seems to me you'd have to be pretty damn you-know-what-retentive to prefer that Linux be unavailable on VT rather than that it be available in the Mac section.

i agree that VT should have a Linux section, by all means. but until it does, i want to be able to find Linux installations right here.
