This is useful little app that does what it says it should do.
HOWEVER, it commits the unforgivable sin of storing your personal data OUTSIDE your home folder (in the root level lib). So, 1.) if you do not have admin rights you cannot easily backup your data file and, 2.) more egregiously (and I learned this the hardest of all ways), if you upgrade to a new machine and move your user directory to the new machine you WILL NOT retain your Safe Place data. I have dozens of passwords that are now lost because I only moved my user library and didn't copy this one file (the only one at the root level with personal prefs that I know of) from the root level library.
Avoid this software if the loss of your passwords is a problem for you, or at least be aware that the coders of this app do not understand the importance of keeping personal user info in the user's home library!

I believe you can put the data files where you want. I do. You can backup the data file, and even have different data files for different system users. I do.Sorry you had a bad experience, it works great for me. David

I believe the developer has fixed the fatal flaw but the original comment still stands as awarning to any developer who thinks it is a good idea to personal prefs in the root library folder. IT'S NOT!Wednesday, September 20 2006 @ 06:28 PM PDT

Hardly flawed because you don't know how to use it. You can have your data stored anywhere you like. My data file is in my home folder and it works perfectly. I bet if you asked the developer he would be glad to help you out. He has alway been fast and courteous with my questions. Give that a shot before you bash the software.Reply to This
