after having connection problems over and over, I gave up. I have a FW dvd burner, a firewire hard drive, and eyetv 200 is the only firewire device that causes huge problems: most of the times you plug it to the mac and the mac won't see it, the light stays red. i tried everything suggested on the support section of the site (where they admit the problem) but with very inconsistent results. i tried trashing the application, reinstalling it. the connection problems are still there.
i manage to get it work one time out of 10. i gave up.

very unreliable firewire connection - tankknight
I had the same problem. I tried everything and finally just out of curiosity chain the 200 thru an external firewire HD and still works to this day that way. Of course then being able to play back recordings was very bad. It turned out to be that I was using a Quicksilver 733mhz G4 (not enough power). I replaced the CPU with a Powerlogix dual 1.3ghz processer and then almost all the problems went a way.Wednesday, March 02 2005 @ 04:00 PM PST

I too had this problem. I'm running on a G4 1.4 MHz Sawtooth. It used to not connect with the EyeTV200, but they had some firmware updates, so I'd check that. Also, I used to daisy chain it with a Firewire CD burner which I've since stopped using and the problems seemed to have gotten better. It's rare that a don't have a connection now.Wednesday, March 02 2005 @ 04:43 PM PST
