It will stop working completely after you launch it 50 times. Without warning. There is no indication this will ever happen (if there is one hidden somewhere it's far from obvious). It will not even let you access the Export Feeds option, really screwing you over if you have a lot of feeds saved (which I did, because I added a ton before the 25-feed limitation was added). Fortunately I had exported mine before it expired.
I would not even call it shareware, as it claims to be here... Nagging and limitations are one thing, but when an app stops working entirely after a time, I'd call it a demo of commercial software.
I also had some problems with authenticated feeds... It would bring up a dialog saying my password was wrong, and often quit shortly after (pretty much every time if I hit cancel). I expect software to be more stable when it goes out of beta and the developer starts charging for it. In this case the last free version was just as good as the last paid version I used... That's not encouraging.
NewsFire the best looking newsreader out there, and it's (mostly) a pleasure to use, but it's not worth it. I would have paid under $10 gladly, maybe as much as $15... and possibly even $20 if I didn't feel like I was being deceived. I'll be taking my money elsewhere.
NewsFire
Slick RSS newsreader.
