MAC_1984:
I use Cocktail somewhat regularly, and I haven't seen the problems you describe, but maybe I don't use some of the same features you do. You specifically mention NetBarrier, so that makes me think you might be seeing problems with Cocktail's network optimization options. Can you specifically describe what you see it's doing to your applications, and name any other applications that Cocktail does this to? Also, what indications do you see that Cocktail is disassembling apps on your hard drive? (For those unsure what he means, "disassembling", in this context, doesn't mean actually ripping them apart--it means to examine a program's code to determine what the program's developer is doing in his program--disassembling another programmer's code is often considered not cool--hence his statement "Developers like this should be held legally accountable".)
As for Cocktail being "an application of not much merit", well, it does what it says it does, and it does those things nicely--it's not meant to be all things to all people. Yes, there are other utilities that do the same things and more, but that's not relevant. As with all these similar utilities, Cocktail does a few things better than the others.
I doubt if the developer is exactly lining his pockets with money--few shareware developers ever experience that.
You also say "This app has turned into: garbage in, garbage out." Well, it still does what it set out to do, so I'm not sure how it's turned to garbage.
Without being more specific, your comments could be considered inflammatory.

I purchased both applications after receving a support email from one of the users few weeks ago (it may be "MAC_1984") and tested/run NetBarrier and VirusBarrier for two weeks without finding any problems. I would like to ask anyone who is running NetBarrier and/or VirusBarrier and experiencing any compatibility issues to contact me. Regards, Kristofer SzymanskiMAC_1984: Unfortunately I don't know who you are but please contact me and I will be glad to discuss this problem with you.

Please direct your queries to the Developer as he knows exactly what I am referring to. Developers' have tried these shenanigans before and have received the wrath of their customers. I have chosen to "uninstall" and never return to using Cocktail--and I once was one if its staunches supporters. I wonder if people remember the application called "Account Enhancer" once made by the same Developer. Those who know of it, also know what havoc is played upon the system and its development was ceased. You are welcome to call my post anything you bloody well wish, but caveat emptor.Reply to This
