Depends on what you need - Juicy

You're better off thinking about what you really need than just biting on someone's blanket "better" opinion. Here's a fairly good comparison. There are surely many more.

I dunno. PostgreSQL is hugely interesting and all, but MySQL has the installed user base. Licensing may be an issue for some people, but frankly to a private user like myself MySQL's scheme is 10,000% better than pricey licensing by Foxbase and its ilk, especially when coupled with phpMyAdmin. PostgreSQL may offer more, but I don't need more, especially if it involves time buried in manuals.
