I'm not quite sure whether I understand you correctly, but instant web search is exactly what I use Butler most for.
I've built my own keyboard shortcuts for lots of different search sites, also VersionTracker, e.g. I press Alt-Ctrl-V and I get Butler's window for websearch where I can also switch search sites. Websearch is extremely customizable in Butler.
Example: I love it when I can show off like this: Talking with a Mac-friend on the phone, he asks me something about thisandthat, I say "waidaminnit" <hack hack>, Butler opens the result pages in UltraLingua/MacFixit/Google/Amazon/whatever, and I then tell him what he wants to know. He says: "Ah, you and your Butler, right?"
Cheers and HTH, Tom

@ Ypmits re: Websearch - Ypmits
I agree with the fact that Websearch is extremely cusomizable in Butler.... and yes... :) I use it all the time too... it's just that (lazy bum that I am) I'd like to see everything underneath 'ONE' shortcut key... like Launchbar. I use ctrl-space for abbreviations... and ctrl-command-W for websearch. But you're absolutely right.... It's there. My comment is just a small thingy I'd like to see changed.... hardly mentionable, because it's a personal preference. But still.... I thought I'd mention it :)Reply to This
