This program is a disaster. I have a brand-new AlBook, downloaded the latest version, and something as simple as dragging jpegs onto the sidebar causes a hard system hang. So hard that the Force Quit window never shows up, and I have to shut it off with the power button.
As I mentioned, this is a brand-new AlBook, 512MB RAM, no system hacks or any third-party system stuff installed. I used AppleJack to repair the disk, permissions, deleted all of the caches and pref files. It still hangs (and I used different jpegs, in case any of the originals were corrupt). The jpegs were very small, so no multi-megabyte files or anything.
Looks like a cool program, but until I can run it for more than 5 minutes without it locking up my AlBook, it's heading right for the Trash.

Crash city - ecodoc
I am disappointed to see the negative comment posted about this first class and in many ways quite unique software.I have absolutely no affliation with the vendors. I am writing only to correct what I believe to be unrepresentative experience reported by one user.
On my 17in powerbook DEVONthink is perfectly stable and working as stated. Do not be put off by the negative comment. Try it over a period of time for yourself. I was very impressed!

What a pity, another newbie (to whatever degree) who, while perfectly within his or her rights to post a review, is simply incorrect.DEVONthink isn't "crashy." This isn't a matter of opinion, it's not a subjective matter.
Yet in a world where Stars are a quick way to judge whether one wants to look further, well, that simply isn't a smart option anymore, is it. One has to read through and sift out those who are (understandably) still on the OS X learning curve.
I don't mean we become masters, but at a certain point, it's quite clear whether the issue is with the item under review or the user.
This is a major (rather downward) shift in the usefulness of this site to those who've been around a while. Perhaps if we could amend or delete our own comments and reviews. Hm. . I don't suppose VT editors ever read these things?
