This developer has no right to view any information about any other program that is installed on your machine. Regardless of their Anti-Piracy concerns, I would be sending marketing survey information to a developer who could then use this information and my email address for whatever SPAM they would wish to send. (For one thing, I'd probably start getting deluged by more Spam for products they want to sell that compete with programs I use).
Once they have this type of information it never goes away. Who knows who will be allowed to share this information? If this company is ever purchased or looses control of their database the information contained will be a great data-mine for whatever marketing ploy is next.
Mac's don't have very many security problems like the Trojan-Horse problem on PC's (over 20,000 spyware programs at last count). If I wouldn't want a spyware program to release this type of information on a PC, then why would I voluntarily provide this stuff to a commercial developer on a Mac? One of the reasons I use Mac's is because of the inherent security of the system.
I resent companies that take liberties with my systems for their benefit. I wouldn't pay a dime to support this cute little ploy (at least the Trojan programs are free). There are too many other solutions to the problems this software is supposed to address.
